PE Curriculum

At Shavington Academy in Year 7 pupils will start with fitness training at the start of the year including the 12 minute Cooper run, to get them up to speed. In Year 7 pupils will undertake baseline testing which, will include Gymnastics, SAQ and ball skills.


During the winter month’s boys and girls will have the opportunities to learn new skills in a range of sports like Rugby, Football and Netball. Developing on skills which, have been taught at primary school and applying to competitive game situations.


We provide opportunities for pupils to practice their skills at dinner time and various after school clubs. After Christmas pupils will complete units on Basketball, Gymnastics/Trampolining, and Dance, Handball and Outdoor education / Orienteering. When the weather improves we are outside in the sun, enjoying challenging pupils to improve their running times, jumping and throwing distances in athletics. Pupils will also develop in Tennis, Rounder’s and Cricket during this period of the year.
