Art Curriculum

Pupils will investigate and develop the formal elements of pattern, colour and texture. They will creatively explore purposeful selection, colour theory, drawing for different purposes, artist references and the critical evaluation of their own and the work of others.

The ‘Wonderland’ project will introduce pupils to the contextual references of Sara Fanelli and Tim Burton before leading them to explore drawing methods through pencil, graphite printing and line-based studies in fine liner. Arrangement of shapes and imagery will lead to an illustration response which combines colour theory and the application of paint and pencil crayon. All pupils will develop their communication skills through annotation to support their creative journey.

During the Spring Term of Year 8 pupils will be introduced to photography through the ‘Food’ project; compositions, viewpoints and modifications through editing software will be explored and creatively documented in sketchbooks.
